Colgate-Palmolive made a very large donation of 20,000 toothbrushes to DIPIN, perfectly matching the 20,000 tubes of toothpaste provided by the Italian company Biosi.
 These donations inspired a very successful, large scale, and widely attended dental awareness camp, jointly run by DIPIN's doctors and a Public Health Center dentist. As a result of this happy marriage between the Public Health Centre and DIPIN on the one hand, and toothbrushes and toothpastes on the other, several hundreds villagers were introduced to the basics of oral hygiene and dental care. The aim of this initiative was to raise awareness amongst the villagers of the widely ranging deleterious effects of poor oral hygiene, at the same time providing education and free tools to initiate a new approach to good oral practices as a way to better general health.  Huge banners and colourful educational posters referring to oral hygiene studded the village arena where, from brightly coloured medical tents, tireless professionals and volunteers offered advice and assistance for the all day. The event was widely covered on television by Zee News as well as by a major hindi newspaper. We are extremely touched and grateful for the generous gesture of Colgate Palmolive and Biosi. |
